Multiple DWI Defense in Angleton
More Than 35 Years Defending Repeat DWI Charges
Jeff Gilbert has represented Texas clients facing DWI charges for more than 35 years. At Jeff Gilbert Law Office, we handle repeat DWI and felony DWI cases with close attention to the prior convictions, evidence, and procedures that determine how a new charge is treated.
We develop a custom legal strategy around each client’s circumstances and goals. Our bilingual staff are available to assist Spanish-speaking clients.

What Happens After a Repeat DWI Arrest
We explain the process from the initial arrest through hearings at the Brazoria County Courthouse and trial settings in Angleton. We also stay in contact with the Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office and keep clients informed about material developments.
An Administrative License Revocation hearing addresses driving privileges separately from the DWI prosecution. A hearing request generally must be made within 15 days after the person receives notice. Missing that deadline waives the right to a hearing, so license issues require prompt attention after an arrest.
When the prosecution extends a plea offer, we evaluate its terms and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each option. That discussion can cover the charge level, proposed sentence, license consequences, and conditions that could continue after the prosecution ends. The decision belongs to the client. Our role is to provide clear, honest guidance based on the facts and the client’s priorities.

How Repeat DWI Cases Move Through Brazoria County Courts
A second DWI misdemeanor and a third or subsequent DWI felony follow different court paths in Brazoria County. Felony proceedings include additional stages that don’t apply to a misdemeanor charge.
A misdemeanor-level second DWI remains a Class A misdemeanor and proceeds through the county-level court process. We track the prosecution, address related license proceedings, evaluate evidence and plea proposals, and prepare for the applicable hearing or trial setting.
Third or Subsequent DWI Proceedings
Felony-level charges move through the Brazoria County District Courts and are processed through the Brazoria County District Clerk’s Office. A third or subsequent DWI case involves grand jury proceedings, a formal indictment, and pretrial procedures distinct from those used in a misdemeanor prosecution.
A grand jury indictment is a formal accusation authorizing the case to proceed. It isn’t a conviction or a finding that the allegations have been proven. We guide clients through each applicable stage and explain the decisions that arise as the charge advances toward hearings or a trial setting.
