Physical time with the child is governed separately under what Texas law calls possession and access.

Joint vs. Sole Managing Conservatorship

Joint managing conservatorship is the most common arrangement in Texas. Both parents share rights and responsibilities, though one is typically designated to determine the child’s primary residence. A possessory conservator has scheduled time with the child but doesn’t hold primary decision-making authority.
